Don't Forget the FUN was created by Kim Pair, a graduate student at the University of South Carolina working toward a Masters Degree in Special Education. Kim is employed by The Arc of the Midlands, a non-profit organization working on the behalf of children and adults with mental retardation and other related disabilities and their families to improve their quality of life through education and advocacy. The need for inclusive social and recreational opportunities continues to be a concern expressed by students, parents, and teachers in order for students with disabilities to progress socially after high school and become productive members of our community. This unit also addresses the need for disability awareness among the regular education population in an effort to foster attitudinal changes. |
